The weather is getting warmer and those river days are definitely in sight. Take a look at our wild swimming spots to plan your day!
River Swims
The river Usk runs through the valley from Brecon to Abergavenny (the two towns, equidistant on either side of Cwmdu Campsite!
Llangyndir: The river here is great for paddling and swimming. It is also very safe, during the summer as the current isn’t too strong. The best way to access the river is opposite the village shop (The Walnut Tree Store). If you pop into the shop, there will also be someone there to point you in the right direction. There is a path, all the way along the river in Llangyndir, so you can pick your spot and swim pretty much anywhere!
Brecon: The best way to access Brecon River is just off the canal, near the turning to Llanfrynach, on your way into Brecon. The river here is less rocky and ideal for more gentle swims. Brecon is a 20-minute drive away. If you’d like to find out more about Brecon, click here!
Crickhowell: Crickhowell is a popular place to swim, as there are lots of swimming spots along the river to swim. The best way to access the river is by the Crickhowell Bridge, at the bottom of the town. Crickhowell high school has free parking. Or, you can walk to Crickhowell here and swim along the way!
Waterfall Swims
Tal-y-Bont on Usk is the village that is next to all of the great waterfalls! All four waterfalls
Blaen Y Glyn Isaf:Â This is the name of the car park that has access to the main, big waterfall and main swimming spot! Search this car park up on maps, and you can head there for a swim and explore!
Four Falls Trail:Â This is about a 40-minute drive from us, but a great day out in the Brecon Beacons!
Lake Swims
Llyn Cwm Lwch: Here you can swim under Pen Y Fan! Just a 25-minute drive away and here you can park your car and take the gentle 30-minute walk to the most beautiful spot! Definitely, one to do.

HOLIDAY COTTAGES INFORMATION
We now have 4-holiday cottages you can book throughout the year!
Ty Ffynon Loft is a newly renovated loft apartment next door to Cwmdu Campsite in Wales. It offers stunning views from the garden, an easy walk to our local pub, and is dog-friendly. Perfect for solo travelers or couples.
Efail Bach is a one-bedroom cottage, with stunning views from the garden. A large comfortable bathroom with a separate bath, and a large shower. Located right next to the campsite if you have family camping.
Efail Isaf is a three-bedroom cottage that sleeps 6 in a quaint old-blacksmiths house (Old Smithy). This house has a wonderful garden for a family BBQ or sunbathing (we do some lovely weather through the summer!). It also has a log burner for cosy nights in front of the fire.
