One of the first things we get asked at Cwmdu Campsite is where to walk for a quick leg stretch for both humans and dogs after your journey to the campsite! So, here we are with another weekly walk.
The ‘Quick Dog Walk and Leg Stretch’
This is a flat walk, that takes you on a loop around the village with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains- the perfect weekly walk to suss out the local area at the start of your camping holiday! It also takes you straight past the Farmer’s Arms pub, so if you fancy a drink or something to eat, after your walk, you can stop off!

Directions
This weekly walk is a lovely, short local walk that takes you on a small loop around Cwmdu.
- Exit through the small gate at the bottom left of the campsite
- Cross the main road and turn left once you have gone over the little bridge
- Go through the gate on your left into the large open field
- In this field, there is a gate on your left, to the river if your dog would like a swim
- Walk all the way straight through this field, where you will meet a gate and stile, cross here
- Turn right onto the lane and pass straight on through the next two junctions
- Then, before the hill begins, there will be a footpath sign on your right
- Go over the stile here and into the field
NOTE: if you have a dog, please put it on a lead here as there may be sheep in the field
- Follow this path and go over the second stile. You will be able to see the lane and another bridge from here
- Walk towards the bridge
- Cross the stile, and go over the bridge towards the Farmer’s Arms Pub
- Once you have crossed the road, you can either stop off at the pub, or turn right and the junction and follow the signs back to the campsite

4* Dog-Friendly Holiday Cottages in the Brecon Beacons, 4 miles from Crickhowell and all within 50 yards of Cwmdu Campsite.
We have 2 cosy cottages available to book:
- Efail Isaf – ‘Old Smithy’ – Sleeps 6 in three bedrooms. Cosy cottage with log burner and picturesque garden and panoramic views of the National Park. Infant facilities are available.
- Efail Bach – ‘Little Smithy’ – One-bed cottage with large shower and separate large bath. Fantastic views from the bedroom, living room and garden. BBQ included. Infant facilities are available.
