Horse Shoe Walk: Pen Tir and Mynydd Llangorse

We are spoilt for choice for walks at Cwmdu campsite, as we are situated right on the Beacons Way in the heart of the Black Mountains. One of our beautiful moderate level walks takes you directly from the campsite on a circular route of The Horseshoe walk: Pen Tir (432m) and Mynydd Llangorse (506m).

Leaving Cwmdu, you will follow a quiet lane to a track up onto grassy paths with one short steep ascent onto the rolling moors of Pen Tir and Mynydd Llangorse. The majority of this walk follows a broad ridge providing great views of the Dragon’s Back, Lllangorse lake and on a clear day, a spectacular view of Pen y Fan. The going underfoot is mainly easy grass tracks, apart from a bit of heather and gorse. This walk starts and finishes at The Farmers Arms pub for some well-earned refreshments.

There are two versions of this walk: a shorter (4.5 miles) and a longer (8.5 miles) route. We have both routes available for customers to borrow in our campsite shop.
