We only offer private sessions for 1-10 people. We recommend three sessions in the sauna with three short dips in the cold plunge pools. Allow 1 hour for your session and arrive 5 minutes early to change and sign the health waiver. From £20 per adult (discounts available for NHS, military, and repeat guests who book a block of 6 sessions; over 16s only).

Cold Plunge Pools and Wood-Fired Sauna

We offer private sessions for guests to use our sauna and/or cold plunge pools. Research shows promising evidence that this combination of heat and cold has benefits for your mental and physical health, and is also great for your muscles after a walk in our surrounding mountains!

Exclusive Private Sessions

Contrast therapy is a recently coined term for alternating between hot, in a sauna, and cold, in an ice bath. Our facility offers both sauna and ice bath in a scenic outdoor setting where you can enjoy our glass-fronted sauna and 2 large colde plunge pools, with beautiful mountain views. Book a private 1 hour session for up to 10 adults now.

Mountain Views and Outdoor Setting

Ice baths, or cold water immersion, is becoming increasingly popular as a way for people to recover from exercise, assist people who are struggling with their mental health or who just fancy a bit of an adrenaline hit. Our cold water bath enjoys stunning views of the surrounding mountains and is an outdoor experience for you, as a couple, or with a group of friends.

Please note: we advise all guests to consult their GP before booking the cold plunge pools or sauna to ensure it is suitable for you if you have any medical conditions or are taking certain medications.

What to expect: Our facility is located one minute’s walk from the main campsite, the path approaching the fire and ice reception is uphill so please take care walking up there.
You will be greeted by one of our friendly team who will explain how to safely use the facilities. Our experienced and friendly staff are passionate about the potential benefits of contrast therapy, including muscle recovery, improved mental health, and reduction in inflammation.
One-hour sessions include: 3 x 10-15-minute sauna sessions + 3 x 2-5-minute cold plunge pool dips.  Everything is optional, so you do not have to dip in the cold water if you don’t feel comfortable!
We have two ice baths to choose from, depending on whether you want to be in on your own or share with your friends.

What to bring:

  • Two towels; one to sit on in the sauna, one to dry yourself after a shower. We have showering, changing and toilet facilities on-site but you might like to come wearing your swimwear under your clothes.
  • A bottle of water to ensure you do not become dehydrated in the sauna (we sell water on-site and you can top up your water bottle from any of our taps).

Map: Camping in the Brecon Beacons

How Far Is the Brecon Beacons From Major UK Cities?

One of the reasons the Brecon Beacons National Park is such a popular camping destination is its accessibility from many major cities across the UK. Despite feeling wonderfully remote and peaceful, the national park is surprisingly easy to reach by car.

For many visitors, the Brecon Beacons provides the perfect countryside escape within a reasonable driving distance.

Approximate travel times include:

Cardiff → Brecon Beacons
Around 1 hour

Bristol → Brecon Beacons
Around 1 hour 30 minutes

Birmingham → Brecon Beacons
Around 2 hours

London → Brecon Beacons
Around 3 hours 30 minutes

Because of its central location within southern Britain, the Brecon Beacons has become one of the most accessible national parks for campers seeking mountain scenery and peaceful countryside.

For visitors travelling from England, the journey into Wales quickly transforms from busy motorways into scenic country roads surrounded by rolling hills and valleys.

Many campsites within the region, including Cwmdu Campsite, are ideally located to provide easy access to the national park while still offering the tranquillity of rural Welsh landscapes.
