Crickhowell is home to lots of walking activities such as Table Mountain, a vast array of independent shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants all surrounded by the stunning Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains backdrop!
LOCATION
The small market town of Crickhowell is located just 4.2 miles directly down the A40 from our campsite. Crickhowell resides within the Eastern range of the Brecon Beacons National Park, just south of the Black Mountains. This beautiful, picturesque town offers ample opportunities for walking, cycling, and other outdoor activities.
Driving: Crickhowell is an 8-minute drive from Cwmdu campsite. Crickhowell has a large main public pay and display car park, alongside short-stay spots located within the high street and surrounding the town. There is also parking available during weekends and school holidays at Crickhowell High School. This parking also has EV charging points. 
Public Transport: The X43 bus service runs to Crickhowell. This bus doesn’t stop in Cwmdu but can be caught from Bwlch and Crickhowell but runs through to our other neighbouring town Abergavenny

INDEPENDENT SHOPS
Crickhowell has a lovely selection of independent shops to visit. From Nicholls, a beautiful department store, to Webbs, which stocks beautiful homeware, gifts, tools and everything you could need for your garden and home. Add to this an outdoor adventure shop, bookshops and lovely boutique-style clothes shops, and there is plenty to see and buy! 
ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES
Crickhowell is a scenic small town with a busy high street filled with lots of shops, cafes, and restaurants. Here are just a few things to do in the area:
Crickhowell Castle: Crickhowell Castle presents an idyllic spot for a family picnic, surrounded by green space, lovely views, and even a playpark! The castle isn’t large however, there is also plenty of history regarding its purpose and past within the town of Crickhowell – a perfect spot for all!
Beacon Park Boats: Boat Hire is available here, a perfect day out for all – enjoying a cruise down the Brecon-Monmouthshire canal!
Table Mountain: The Crickhowell to Table Mountain walk is a short, sharp ascent leading onto the flat-topped mountain displaying stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. the route for the walk can be found here!
The River-Usk: Crickhowell Bridge stands over the stunning River-Usk. The river itself and the green fields surrounding are an ideal place to go walking and wild swimming! The Crickhowell Castle and River-Usk circular walk is a fun, family-friendly walk that covers Crickhowell alongside the scenic route of the river. Information is linked here!
Book-ish: Book-ish is located in the main high street of Crickhowell and stocks a large range of books, games, cards, and gifts for book lovers! It also includes a cafe out the back of the shop, filled with lots of cakes and lunch options!
EAT & DRINK
Crickhowell offers an array of eating and drinking opportunities! Crickhowell is filled with pubs, cafes, restaurants, and bars.
The Bear Hotel: The Bear Hotel is located at the top of the high street. It offers a large menu of hearty pub meals and also finer dining options for those interested. A perfect treat after a long day out! In the summer, you can enjoy their beer garden just at the back of the hotel! This place is dog-friendly!
The Dragon Inn: The Dragon is located at the end of Crickhowell High Street. Its bar and restaurant offer tasty food and drinks, perfect after a walk around the town!
Book-ish: Book-ish offers light lunches, hot and cold refreshments, and a large selection of delicious cakes! This cafe is also dog-friendly!
Latte-Da: Latte-Da offers a range of toasties, breakfast bites, and tasty cakes throughout the day, head over here if you fancy something sweet! With a beautiful courtyard garden and dog-friendly spaces, this is a lovely place to stop for some coffee and cake.

HOLIDAY COTTAGES INFORMATION
4* Dog-Friendly Holiday Cottages in the Brecon Beacons, 4 miles from Crickhowell and all within 50 yards of Cwmdu Campsite.
We have 2 cosy cottages available to book:
- Efail Isaf – ‘Old Smithy’ – Sleeps 6 in three bedrooms. Cosy cottage with log burner and picturesque garden and panoramic views of the National Park. Infant facilities are available.
- Efail Bach – ‘Little Smithy’ – One-bed cottage with large shower and separate large bath. Fantastic views from the bedroom, living room and garden. BBQ included. Infant facilities are available.

Imagine a Fire & Ice experience like no other! Rest and Rejuvenate peacefully in a Nordic wood-fired Sauna & Ice bath with a Scenic mountain view looking out across the Welsh Brecon Beacons National Park, also known as (Bannau Brycheiniog).
