Llangorse Lake is the largest natural lake in Mid and South Wales and is located just 20 minutes drive from Cwmdu Campsite. The Lake is in the heart of the Brecon Beacon National Park and lies in a hollow formed by glacial action and is a haven for wildlife.
Llangorse Lake Fishing
Having been a destination for fishermen for centuries, Llangorse Lake holds stocks of pike, perch, roach, tench, bream and eels. All fishing must be caught and released. All fishing requires a permit and must take place from boats as the shore of the lake contains many SSI’s and conservation areas. Fishing boats can be hired, for more information please click here. The Lake Cafe and Lakeside Bar
Llangorse Lake has a cafe that is only a 2 minute walk from the lake, it is open from the beginning of March to the end of October. The Lake cafe offers breakfast from 9 am and then drinks, snacks and lunch options after 11 am. It offers gluten free and vegan options and offers plenty of outside seating to make the most of the beautiful scenery. The Lakeside bar has been recently refurbished and provides evening meals and entertainment during the weekends and school holidays.
Wildlife at Llangorse Lake
The Lake is home to a diverse range of plants and animals. The wildlife includes otters, water voles and an abundance of birds such as warblers, swallows and large flocks of geese. The lake is a Site of Specific Scientific Interest with limits on the number of people using the lake and no-go zones to protect the wildlife and their habitat. On the western shore of the lake, you will find Llangasty Nature Reserve where there is a beautiful timber bird hide.
Llangorse Lake Boat Hire
It is possible to hire rowing boats, kayaks, canoes and paddleboards during the summer season at Llangorse Lake. For prices and more information please click here. There are zoning arrangements in place on the lake that apply to all lake users, please see this link for further information.
Llangorse Multi Activity and Horse Riding Centre
A multi-award winning activity centre that offers a range of indoor and outdoor activities, including rock climbing, zip lines and outdoor challenge courses. The riding centre has over 25 miles of private bridleways and caters for all ages and abilities.

4* Dog-Friendly Holiday Cottages in the Brecon Beacons located 4 miles from Crickhowell and all within 50 yards of Cwmdu Campsite.
We have 4 cosy cottages available to book:
- Efail Isaf – ‘Old Smithy’ – Sleeps 6 in three bedrooms. Cosy cottage with log burner and picturesque garden and panoramic views of the National Park. Infant facilities are available.
- Efail Bach – ‘Little Smithy’ – One-bed cottage with large shower and separate large bath. Fantastic views from the bedroom, living room and garden. BBQ included. Infant facilities are available.
- The Hay Loft – Newly refurbished couples retreat. Peaceful, scenic views, private garden.
- Ty Ffynon – Beautifully decorated, two-bedroom house with wonderful views, log burner and free-standing bath in the main bedroom.

Imagine a Fire & Ice experience like no other! Rest and Rejuvenate peacefully in a Nordic wood-fired Sauna & Ice Baths with a Scenic mountain view looking out across the Welsh Brecon Beacons National Park also known as (Bannau Brycheiniog).
Guests can visit in many ways, camp or Glamp at Cwmdu Campsite, stay in one of our four Holiday Cottages, or stop by for an independent session. Guests are guided through a series of hot and cold transitions between the Sauna and Ice Bath.
This may just be the perfect place to relax, unwind, improve your mental and physical health or recover from a long walk all while listening to the beautiful birdsong of the area.
