Although September marks the end of the summer holidays, it doesn’t mean the fun must end too. Fortunately, we are surrounded by fantastic September events that are absolutely worth the visit!
17th – 18th September Abergavenny Food Festival
The Abergavenny Food Festival is an annual food festival which takes place in the town of Abergavenny in Wales each September. Abergavenny is a 20-minute drive away, with ample parking.
- Six accessible venues in the centre of Abergavenny, including the lovely Victorian Market Hall and ancient Castle grounds. Over 150+ top-notch exhibitors and producers, plus chef demonstrations, talks and debates featuring the brightest culinary talent – and family entertainment too. View here for the events list.
- Fantastic and extensive range of food and drink stalls, with testers to try!
Abergavenny Food Festival is a local, family favourite. Surrounded by mountains and beautiful scenery, it makes a fantastic day out with family and friends. The food cooking tutorials are a fantastic way to meet new combinations and recipes, from the best! But even if you just fancied a quick trip to buy some goods.

17th September Fifteenth Century Life
This is one of the most unique September events, where you can learn about and explore Tretower Court and Castle. What did people eat in the 15th Century? What did they wear? How did they spend their time? You can walk to Tretower from Cwmdu Campsite, through beautiful road, track and country. There also lovely spots to have a picnic if you fancied.

28th September An Evening With Ruth Jones
Ruth Jones is the iconic Welsh actress, comedian, writer and producer, most famous for her role as “Nessa” in the Welsh comedy series, “Gavin & Stacey”. The evening with Ruth Jones will be held at the Crickhowell book-shop called “Book-ish”, just a 10-minute drive away. She will be talking all about her new book, “Love Untold”. Crickhowell is a beautiful, local town.
