New to Campervan or camping life?

Recently we have noticed an influx of first-time campers and people returning to camping from fond childhood memories. Many have come to us saying they were nervous to try it out or get back before arriving. Surprisingly we find this even when it’s as a family or even as a brave solo camper. This blog is to hopefully help settle those nerves and hopefully make sure you are fully prepared for the experience.

One of the most wonderful things we see from families who are heading out into the lifestyle of camping. This is the reconnection they get when there is no longer the tv, laptop, or games console to preoccupy those day-to-day moments that can easily distract you from family time. The sunny warm days encourage the kids to play on the grass fields or play areas. This offers great opportunities to make those holiday friends that we adults all remember making many years ago. Come the evenings as it starts to cool, the fire pit comes out to sit around. I always remember my dad showing me how to light the campfire and exploring what random items of food we could cook. Things like cooked bananas with chocolate and a touch of brandy always take me back to fond memories, even better with vanilla ice cream.

Don’t be afraid if you are a solo camper

Solo campers are amazing, especially those who brave camping for the first time alone. That opportunity to reconnect with the great outdoors,

Our campsite is super friendly, so you are never too far away from someone to help pitch up that tent or even just a chit chat if needed, you may be camping solo but don’t feel you need to be alone in your adventure.

We see so many campers that come to stay with us and we have noticed a trend with some essentials that are often forgotten so here’s a list of a few.

Some of the things you may easily forget to bring with you if you are new to camping.
  • Mains connection lead if you are planning to hook up for some of the modern luxuries of electricity you will need an extension lead that has a camping connection point on it.
  • Games don’t forget those family board games; they are a great way to keep the family entertained or even a great form of entertainment with the neighbouring campers.
  • Bed this may sound silly, but we often have requests for airbeds or groundsheets, it seems an easy item to forget!
  • Levelling blocks if you are in a camper van you may require levelling blocks on some of the pitches. We have a few to lend out but only limited numbers.
  • Camping chairs if you plan to sit around the fire in the evenings you may struggle to do this without one.
  • Food although this isn’t essential, we have our amazing pop-ups on Mondays and Tuesdays in addition to the local pub and café serving great food too but sometimes there’s that comfort food item that you may be craving that we may not stock in our farm shop.
