Vintage Steam Train Weekend
10 & 11 May 2025, Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway
A weekend of events recreating historic scenes with two trains running, offering beautiful photo opportunities. Alongside the vintage trains, there is a range of other attractions, including classic cars and a model car museum.
Meet the Marchers
17 & 18 May 2025, Tretower Court and Castle
Visit Tretower to meet their living history group and take a journey back into the 17th Century. You do not need to book for this event; normal admission costs apply.
The Detective Dog
17 May 2025, Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon

The Smallholding & Countryside Spring Festival
18 & 19 May 2025, Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells

Hay Festival 2025
22 May – 1 June, Hay on Wye
Hay Festival welcomes readers, writers and thinkers of all ages for 11 days of events and activities. The site is free to enter with over 600 different workshops and stages ticketed individually.
Crickhowell Open Studios
24 – 26 May 2025
Free entry to numerous art venues in and around Crickhowell, including paintings, textiles, sculpture, jewellery and more. Free printed guides widely available from local shops and tourist information.
Abergavenny Steam, Veteran and Vintage Rally
25 & 26 May 2025, Bailey Park

HOLIDAY COTTAGES INFORMATION
4* Dog-Friendly Holiday Cottages in the Brecon Beacons, 4 miles from Crickhowell and all within 50 yards of Cwmdu Campsite.
We have 4 cosy cottages available to book:
- Efail Isaf – ‘Old Smithy’ – Sleeps 6 in three bedrooms. Cosy cottage with log burner and picturesque garden and panoramic views of the National Park. Infant facilities are available.
- Efail Bach – ‘Little Smithy’ – One-bed cottage with large shower and separate large bath. Fantastic views from the bedroom, living room and garden. BBQ included. Infant facilities are available.
- The Hay Loft – Newly refurbished couples retreat. Peaceful, scenic views, private garden.
- Ty Ffynon – Beautifully decorated, two-bedroom house with wonderful views, log burner and free-standing bath in the main bedroom.
