At 90ft Henrhyd Falls is the tallest waterfall in South Wales, as well as being one of the most impressive waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Henrhyd Falls was famously used as the entrance to the Batcave in the Hollywood movie, The Dark Knight, starring Christian Bale a famous Welsh person himself as Batman.
Visiting Henrhyd Falls
The walk to Henryd Falls takes you down a tranquil and picturesque trail through ancient woodland, rich with wildlife. The trail starts from a large free car park, SA10 9PG. In the summer months, there is an overflow car park that charges £5 a day for parking, this is cash only. In the overflow car park, there is also a food truck selling drinks, ice-creams and hot food. The seating area is next to a small animal farm with alpacas, rhea, goats and sheep to see.
The trail to the waterfall is well marked and takes you from the car park through a wooden swing gate and down a track that starts as gravel but does become more uneven and muddy in places.
As you make your way down into the Graig Llech Gorge you cross a wooden bridge to reach the other side of the river. Shortly after this, you will reach the waterfall, which is only approximately 500m from the car park making Henrhyd Falls a relatively easy waterfall to visit.
Henrhyd Falls is one of the few waterfalls in Wales you can walk behind, offering a unique experience to see the Graig Llech gorge through the cascading water of the falls. However, you must be cautious as you have to walk under a cliff where there is a risk of falling rocks and it is very slippery underfoot. Continuing along the path here is at your own risk.
After visiting the waterfall it is possible to walk along the river where you will find several smaller waterfalls along with several benches to sit and enjoy the surroundings.

We have 4 cosy cottages available to book:
- Efail Isaf – ‘Old Smithy’ – Sleeps 6 in three bedrooms. Cosy cottage with log burner and picturesque garden and panoramic views of the National Park. Infant facilities are available.
- Efail Bach – ‘Little Smithy’ – One-bed cottage with large shower and separate large bath. Fantastic views from the bedroom, living room and garden. BBQ included. Infant facilities are available.
- The Hay Loft – Newly refurbished couples retreat. Peaceful, scenic views, private garden.
- Ty Ffynon – Beautifully decorated, two-bedroom house with wonderful views, log burner and free-standing bath in the main bedroom.

Imagine a Fire & Ice experience like no other! Rest and Rejuvenate peacefully in a Nordic wood-fired Sauna & Ice Baths with a Scenic mountain view looking out across the Welsh Brecon Beacons National Park also known as (Bannau Brycheiniog).
Guests can visit in many ways, camp at Cwmdu Campsite, Glamp in either a log pod or shepherd’s hut, stay in one of our four Holiday Cottages, or stop by for an independent session. Guests are guided through a series of hot and cold transitions between the Sauna and Ice Bath.
This may just be the perfect place to relax, unwind, improve your mental and physical health or recover from a long walk all while listening to the beautiful birdsong of the area.
