The Hay Festival of Literature & Arts, better known as the Hay Festival, is an annual literature festival held in Hay-on-Wye, Powys, Wales, for 10 days from May to June. Here, you get to meet and listen to some of the most renowned authors from around the World.

Here you can book tickets for talks, where you can hear and meet your favorite authors. However, if you’re a bit of a foodie, the festival hosts an excellent range of food and drink pop-ups.
The likes of Bear Grylls, Radio 4 talking to many people on many topics and the New York Jazz Band are just a very small selection of what the festival has to share this year!

About Hay-on-Wye
Hay-on-Wye, simply known locally as “Hay”, is a market town and community in Powys, Wales; it lies in the historic county of Brecknockshire. With over twenty bookshops, it is often described as “the town of books”; it is both the National Book Town of Wales and the site of the annual Hay Festival.
As the town sits on the river Wye, wild swimming here is very popular!
Getting to Hay Festival
Driving: Hay is a 30-minute drive from Cwmdu Campsite, along the A479 which runs directly passed us. There is parking at the festival for £8 a day.
No car?: You can catch the X43 bus in either Bwlch or Crickhowell, which will take you to Brecon. Then catch the T14 bus from Brecon to Hay.
Shuttle Bus: A regular shuttle bus operates between the Festival site and the town center.
Walking: Unfortunately walking to Hay would be too far, but there are ample walks around Hay if you wish to explore more of the area by foot.
Staying With Us
As previously mentioned, the main road to Hay (A479) runs directly passed Cwmdu Campsite. Therefore, we are in the perfect location to commute to and visit the festival! This does mean that we book up quite quickly over these dates, however, there are ample pitches currently up for grabs!

HOLIDAY COTTAGES INFORMATION
We now have 4-holiday cottages you can book throughout the year!
Ty Ffynon Loft is a newly renovated loft apartment next door to Cwmdu Campsite in Wales. It offers stunning views from the garden, an easy walk to our local pub, and is dog friendly. Perfect for solo travelers or couples.
Efail Bach is a one-bedroom cottage, with stunning views from the garden. A large comfortable bathroom with a separate bath, and a large shower. Located right next to the campsite if you have family camping.
Efail Isaf is a three-bedroom cottage that sleeps 6 in a quaint old-blacksmiths house (Old Smithy). This house has a wonderful garden for a family BBQ or sunbathing (we do some lovely weather through the summer!). It also has a log burner for cosy nights in front of the fire.
