Cwmdu Cottages are a collection of holiday cottages in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, Wales. All cottages are within walking distance of The Farmers Arms pub & Mynydd Ddu Tea Rooms cafe in Cwmdu. Explore beautiful walks and bike trails available straight from the doorstep.

Family-run holiday cottages in the Brecon Beacons
The original property – Efail- Isaf – translates as “Old Smithy”, and the holiday lets have drawn strength from this rich heritage. The property was a working smithy until the 20th century and the house has been sympathetically restored since that time. Oak beams proliferate; there is a quaint stone staircase (now carpeted) winding up and around the original site of the forge, now fitted with a cosy and efficient wood burning stove.
Efail Isaf
KITCHEN
Guests will find a newly fitted, very well equipped open plan kitchen. This comprises all the usual modern facilities including an electric Range Master cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washing machine. Lovely fitted units with ample storage space.
DINING AREA
There is a dining area/family room through an archway off the kitchen with a feature fireplace and a very efficient wood burning stove, dining table, 6 chairs and fabulous views out across the valley to the hills beyond.
SITTING ROOM
The downstairs sitting room has a feature fireplace fitted with a coal-effect electric fire, TV with Freeview and DVD. WiFi available.
CLOAKROOM
There is also a downstairs cloakroom with a toilet and hand wash basin.
MASTER BEDROOM 1:
A very spacious bedroom with a king-sized bed with an en-suite shower room and toilet and a small hand basin. Beautiful views over the countryside to the south and west.
BEDROOM 2:
Bedroom with a double bed with ample storage space for clothes
BEDROOM 3:
Twin bedded room next to the family bathroom.
BATHROOM
The family bathroom comprises a bath with a separate shower unit, heated towel rail, toilet and wash basin with shaver point.
Garden
A pretty garden fronts the cottage with a garden bench – a perfect place to sit on a sunny evening. There is also a small elevated garden to the rear with a patio, garden furniture and a BBQ (see gallery).

Strictly 1 dog welcome.

The Local Area
The area is gently rounded upland with well-signposted access to the countryside and glorious views.
With activities to suit everyone, regardless of age or ability, this is an ideal venue to unwind from our hectic world.
Just one mile down an old Roman road – footpath – is Tretower Court and Castle a fortified medieval manor house that is open to the public for a great day out learning the history of the area.
The Farmers Arms pub is closed on MONDAY only. Food and drinks are available Tuesday-Sunday evenings but please BOOK ONLINE through their website first.
The Mynydd Ddu Tearooms are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Open 8:30-4:40 on all other days.

Across the road from the cottages, you’ll find our Cwmdu Campsite essentials shop.
Now stock a much greater range of local and fresh produce in our little on-site shop. Be sure to stop in and browse our variety of products from local suppliers and perhaps pick up some gifts to take home to your loved ones!
