Camping Brecon Beacons | Cwmdu Caravan and Campsite

Welcome to Cwmdu Campsite, the most peaceful caravan and campsite in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Bring your family and friends to a long established warm and friendly site set in 4 acres of well sheltered, near lawned grounds. Our relaxing site is surrounded by fields and woodland in the quiet of a secluded sunny valley. You won’t find a noisy “clubhouse” here; you’ll find an environment where you can unwind from the busy world.

At all but the busiest times visitors may choose their own preferred location within the campsite. Certainly if you are camping and do not require electricity you can pitch anywhere on the field BELOW the Reception building: the space available ensures that we have no need of any formal pitch demarcation on this area of the site. If the Reception is closed when you arrive make yourself at home and book in during the evening. There are over 20 pitches for those requiring an electrical hook-up on the upper part of the site. To avoid disappointment we advise visitors to check the availability of electric beforehand.

“Cwmdu” translates as “black valley”, and lies directly at the eastern edge of the Black Mountains. Take a wander from the site and there are walks to suit everyone. This is not the rugged stark terrain of Snowdonia or Scotland; this is an area of gently rounded upland and most importantly easy, well finger-posted access to the countryside. Please take a moment to appreciate the surroundings on a very short video.

The local village 300m distant offers a small café where you’ll find the very best breakfast in Wales. Indeed, as the countless awards indicate, there’s unequalled home cooking all day. Along with the Farmers Arms public house there is only a church; this is a very small community.

Crickhowell is our local town, four miles distant, where you’ll find everything to suit the needs of the visitor, including the very best place to start any relaxing break - an excellent tourist information centre. There are great restaurants, an outdoor shop for guides and friendly advice and an equally excellent range of traditional shops.

Located centrally in the National Park, we are ideally situated for touring the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains with a wealth of spectacular sights within walking distance and many any more within an hour’s travelling. All things considered this is an exceptional location for anyone with a love for the countryside. Within half an hour's drive there is the Blaenavon World Heritage Site with Big Pit Mining Museaum which will amaze all the family.  We whole-heartedly commend a visit to this site, not only because its the perfect "wet weather" venue but also because its free! There are many other acclaimed places and attractions within easy striking distance. PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT OUR GALLERY. ALL THE PLACES SHOWN ARE WITHIN GOOD STRIKING DISTANCE... THERE'S JUST SO MUCH TO DO...

PLEASE NOTE CAREFULLY THE DIRECTIONS TO THE SITE IF USING SATNAV

Wifi now available free and, as of April 2012, coverage extends to every corner of the site...

So, if you're staying in a caravan or a tent you can catch up on the world or find out what the weather has in store.
